West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has revealed star playmaker Dimitri Payet wants to leave the club but the Hammers are not willing to sell him.
The France international has failed to reach the heights of last season, having registered just two goals and six assists from 18 Premier League appearances.
Reports have suggested that Payet is a target of a number of clubs across Europe, and Bilic has confirmed the worst possible news for Hammers’ fans.
“We have said we don’t want to sell our best players but Dimitri Payet does not want to play for us,” he told a press conference.
“We are not going to sell him.
“I spoke to the Chairman and this is not a money issue.
“We gave him a long contract because we want him to stay.”
Payet enjoyed a stunning debut season for the East London club following his arrival from Marseille. He finished last season with nine goals and 12 assists in 29 Premier League appearances.
The Hammers this weekend face Crystal Palace with the clash set to kick off at 2am on Sunday morning AEDT.
