There was no shortage of Aussies in action on England’s Boxing Day bonanza.

At Villa Park, Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak and Jackson Irvine went toe to toe as the Villans downed Burton Albion 2-1. Jedinak saw out 75 minutes, while Irvine played the full 90.

Huddersfield Town overturned a 1-0 home deficit to defeat Nottingham Forest 2-1. Aaron Mooy nabbed an assist and an abundance of praise from supporters on Twitter.

In the Premier League, Brad Smith started as AFC Bournemouth were defeated 3-0 by rampaging Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He lasted 77 minutes while goalkeeper Adam Federici was an unused substitute.

Bailey Wright was an unused substitute as Preston North End became the latest victim of the resurgent Leeds United, hammered 4-1. Leeds are now up to fifth on the Championship table.

James Meredith and Bradford City kept a clean sheet in League One as they held top of the table Scunthorpe United.

Bradden Inman was an unused substitute for Peterborough United as he continues his road back from injury. The Posh conceded a 92nd-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Gillingham.

Another division lower, Alex Cisak‘s Leyton Orient survived a late scare to hold onto a 3-2 win against Crawley Town. The shot-stopper played the full 90.
