Socceroos duo Adam Federici and Brad Smith have suffered an embarrassing exit from the FA Cup after AFC Bournemouth fell 3-0 to League One side Milwall.
Goals from Steve Morison, Shaun Cummings and Shane Ferguson ensured Tim Cahill’s former club booked their place in the fourth round.
Federici got through the full 90 minutes, while Smith was taken off after 75 minutes as Eddie Howe’s side tried to work a way back into the clash.
Defender Bailey Wright was handed his Bristol City debut, getting through the full 90 minutes, despite arriving at the club just a day earlier from Preston North End.
Unfortunately it was not the perfect debut for the 24-year-old, as his side were held to a 0-0 draw by Fleetwood Town, with the tie now set for a replay.
Aaron Mooy was the only Australian to experience success in the famous competition over night, coming off the bench in his side’s 4-0 rout of Port Vale, playing the final 23 minutes.
Fellow midfielder Massimo Luongo made his return from injury for Queens Park Rangers, thrown into the starting line-up by manager Ian Holloway.
It turned out to be an unhappy return for the former Swindon Town man as his side fell 2-1 to Blackburn Rovers, with Luongo substituted after 82 minutes.
Away from FA Cup action where James Meredith once again got through a full 90 minutes for Bradford City as they defeated Chesterfield 2-0.
Elsewhere in League One action, Cameron Burgess watched from the bench for new club Bury as they fell to Scunthorpe 3-2.
And in the fourth tier of English football, Alex Cisak played a full match between the post for Leyton Orient as they lost to Barnet 3-1.
