Borussia Dortmund pair rejected Liverpool moves

Borussia Dortmund youngsters Christian Pulisic and Ousmane Dembele have revealed they both rejected moves to Liverpool in past transfer windows.

United States international Pulisic claims he was a target of a bid from the Reds last summer, while Dembele says he sat down with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp prior to joining Dortmund.

“I have respect for Klopp and I know him – he was very welcoming to me here — but I was never really thinking about going to Liverpool,” Pulisic told FourFourTwo.

“Dortmund have given me everything. If I work very hard here I will play and I love this club.”

French international Dembele said Klopp tried to presuade him to make the move to England, with Leicester City also interested, but he already had his heart set on a move to Germany.

“I saw Klopp in Paris but I told him I’d made up my mind to sign for BVB,” he said.

“I made the decision a long time ago, so going to Leicester was out of the question.”

Pulisic has seen plenty of first-team action this season, having made 26 appearances, scoring two goals and providing six across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Dembele is also enjoying a successful season following his move from Stade-Rennes with six goals and 13 assists from 32 appearances.
