Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed Gareth Bale is set to miss the second leg of his side’s Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.
Bale suffered the calf injury during last week’s first leg 2-1 victory over Bayern and is also in doubt for the weekend’s El Clasico against Barcelona.
“Well Gareth has been working hard to get back into the side after his three months out from injury and he has come back excited about playing games,” Zidane told a press conference.
“He has got a little problem that has come back again and we do not want to risk anything tomorrow.”
Real will enter the clash as favourites having taken the advantage in the away leg, but Zidane says his side must not enter the clash with any complacency
“What I do know is that we have to play a great game. We have to start well and as always we have to go out and try and win it,” he added.
“We are not going to speculate the result. The first leg has been played and we have got a second leg to come now. [We] have to go out and take Bayern seriously.”
The game will kick-off at 4:45am on Wednesday morning AEST.
