It is not often journalists fall asleep on the job, but that is exactly what happened during Luis Enrique’s latest press conference.
While speaking after FC Barcelona’s 4-2 win over Valencia on Sunday, Enrique identified the dozing reporter in his press room.
He proceeded to wake up the journalist.
So amused was Enrique that he could scarcely continue addressing the remainder of the press throng that was gathered in the room.
“Look, that’s never happened to me… (a journalist asleep)” Enrique said.
“It’s the first time … I must have been very boring!”
Enrique said to the journalist: “Good morning! How you doing?!”
“Wait, wait, now I can’t (continue) … dammit, I know the boss’ press conference is boring, but this…”
Enrique eventually composed himself and looked to continue on.
“Well, let’s try to do this,” he said.
Barcelona were made to come from behind against 10-man Los Che, who took the lead in the 29th minute through on-loan Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala.
Goals from Lionel Messi and Andre Gomes eventually saw the Catalans over the line in the second half.
Barca’s win ensured they kept pace with ladder leaders Real Madrid. The points gap sits at two, but Los Blancos have a game in hand.
