At just 19-years-old, Renato Sanches is already being touted as a future superstar for Bayern Munich.
The midfielder began his career with Primeira Liga side Benfica, quickly rising through the youth ranks to record over 20 appearances for the senior side during the 2015-16 campaign.
It was during the Euro 2016 tournament where Sanches would capture the world’s attention, however, becoming the youngest player to play for Portugal after Cristiano Ronaldo had held to honour for over a decade. His two crucial goals in games against Croatia and Poland were enough to earn a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in May of last year.
This was more than enough reason for our friends at Copa90 to take an in-depth look at the career of the Portuguese so far, exploring his academy life at Benfica and his sensational debut for the first team, the starring performances for A Seleção at Euro 2016 and his transition into Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Portuguese legend and current Benfica youth academy director Nuno Gomes also provides great insight to the talent that Sanches possesses at such a young age.
