Perth Glory sign experienced Romanian centre-half


Perth Glory have announced the signing of Romanian journeyman Lucian Goian on a short-term injury replacement contract.

The 34-year-old with remain with Glory until the end of the 2016-17 A-League season, with mainstay central-defenders Alex Grant and Shane Lowry both ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Goian, a former Romania under-21 international, most recently played in the Indian Super League for Mumbai City. There, he was named as the league’s best defender and picked in its best XI.

Perth will be Goian’s 12th different club since he began his professional career in 2001.

He has played with various teams in Romania as well as China and India.

Goian will wear Glory’s No.26 shirt and he is expected to be available for Glory’s home match against Sydney FC on Sunday.

The Sky Blues can mathematically wrap up he minor premiership with three points in the west.

Perth currently sit fifth on the A-League table and are involved in a three-way battle to secure the cherished third position with Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar.
