Jamie Maclaren moves to 2.Bundesliga club

Jamie Maclaren has been revealed as an SV Darmstadt player, signing a three-year deal at the club.

Maclaren left Brisbane Roar at the end of the 2016-17 A-League season, in which he netted 19 goals, enough to win him the Golden Boot alongside Besart Berisha.

Darmstadt will play in the 2.Bundesliga next season having been relegated from the Bundesliga, finishing on the foot of the table.

“I am delighted to be a part of this traditional, proud club, and I would like to get to know my new team colleagues as soon as possible, a great reason for my change is Torsten Frings, whom I met in the discussions as a young, ambitious coach,” Maclaren said.

“I wanted to play under him.”

Both Maclaren and Mathew Leckie are likely to be playing in the German second division next season, with the latter’s FC Ingolstadt set to be relegated.

Mitch Langerak and VfB Stuttgart, meanwhile, lead the 2.Bundesliga and are in pole position to win automatic promotion back to the top flight.
