“Supportive, lightweight – just perfect.”

Those are the words spoken by Jas Virdee, a Nike Academy Most Wanted coach, who is in awe of the Nike’s new Hypervenom 3 football boots.

In recent times, Australian football has wondered who will step up to the plate and become the nation’s next great striker.

And as 20 handpicked youngsters converged on Blacktown Sports Park, Sydney, for an official launch of the Hypervenom 3, perhaps we were witnessing an answer to that burning question.

Stylish with it’s eye-catching electric green and hyper orange, the Hypervenom 3 is designed for striking.

Master your touch

Only 11 grams heavier than the Mercurial Superfly, this allows any striker to maximise their agility and movement between the defensive lines.

Moreover, the grip and feel of the cushioning on the instep of the boot gives strikers a yard on defenders. That extra split second to open up the angle is crucial in the 18-yard box.

This was evident throughout a training session led by Virdee and supported by Western Sydney Wanderers’ assistant coach and former coach at Barcelona’s La Masia academy Andrés Carrasco.

“The mould of the Hypervenom 3 really suits the strikers and what they want to achieve when they strike the ball,” said Virdee.

“Only Nike could put on an event like this, so giving the players an opportunity to come out here, get the feeling of the boots and put on the gear, is second to none.”

While the players learned invaluable lessons from two reputable mentors, their session was also complimented by Wanderers forwards Brendon Santalab, Lachlan Scott and winger Jaushua Sotirio – Nike athletes with a keen eye for goal.

Information is key, but it’s nothing without practice and hours upon hours of execution.

Add in the Hypervenom 3 boots and ultimately these young men have all the tools needed to become the deadliest of finishers.

Let the goals speak for themselves. Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane and Gonzalo Higuain all won the Golden Boot in their respective leagues last season with their Hypervenom boots and what better endorsement and impetus for the new breed of Australian strikers who sport Nike’s electric kicks
