Leicester City will look to send another shock wave through world football in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Atletico Madrid on Thursday morning.
The Foxes are no without hope against La Liga’s third placed side though, as stats from daily fantasy football game www.oulala.com reveal Riyad Mahrez is outperforming Antoine Griezmann in the continental competition so far this season and on a per minute basis poses a far greater threat in front of goal.
Both Griezmann and Mahrez have registered four goals and two assists in the competition so far. However, the Algerian has done this having played one less game and only takes 99 minutes on average to impact a scoreline, compared to just under two hours for Griezmann.
The Atletico forward does have a narrow lead in terms of key passes and takes nearly three individual shots on goal each outing – but while Mahrez averages just 1.6 attempts, his conversion rate of 3% is double that of the French star.
Leicester’s playmaker has also made more crosses into the box for teammates and is proving to be a tougher task for defenders to handle – averaging an amazing 2.6 successful take-ons compared to the 0.3 of Griezmann, and drawing slightly more fouls.
Which player will have the greater influence on Thursday’s Champions League blockbuster?
