Atletico Madrid’s president insists star striker Antoine Griezmann will remain with the club “for a long time”.
Griezmann has been heavily linked with a record-breaking transfer to Manchester United, with some reports indicating a deal is as good as done.
So far advanced are negotiations, some outlets claim, that Griezmann has already selected his squad number at United – No.7.
But Ateltico president Enrique Cerezo remained firm in his belief the Frenchman would remain loyal to Atletico, saying he “loves life” at the Spanish capital club.
“Every time I see Antoine I give him a hug,” Cerezo told COPE.
“Antoine is a fantastic player and loves life at Atletico.”
“I don’t know what Manchester United’s interest is. But Griezmann will be at Atletico for a long time.”
Since moving to Atletico in 2014, 25-year-old Griezmann has netted 52 goals in 95 appearances.
A move to the Premier League would see Girezmann join in increasingly lengthy production line of former Atletico strikers to move to the Premier League, including Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero.
