Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy says he is not looking too far ahead in his career, insisting he is focused on commitments with the Championship club.
The Socceroos midfielder’s strong form was rewarded after he was unveiled as the club’s Player of the Month for December, his third of the season.
Having produced a number of strong performances this season, talk has surrounded a potential return to parent club Manchester City.
Despite admitting he is being closely monitored by Sky Blues scouts, Mooy says he is only looking ahead to the short-term future with the Terriers.
“I don’t really look too far ahead. I just focus on where I am now, so that’s with Huddersfield,” he is quoted as saying by AAP.
“I don’t really focus on the next level.
“The Championship’s a tough division, a strong league. Playing in this league, I’m improving and still think I can get to a higher level, definitely, and play more consistent.
“That’s what I’m here for and hopefully that happens.”
Huddersfield are well placed in the Championship, sitting in fourth position after 25 games and Mooy says he is hopeful the Terriers can continue to prove the critics wrong.
“We just keep believing and keep playing. That’s all you can do,” he added.
“We’re on a run now and it feels good. Hopefully we can keep it going.”
